In Southeast Alaska you need a Small Ship for Big Adventures!

Southeast Alaska, an archipelago the size of Florida, is famous for its protected passages, barrier islands and bold ocean capes. Dramatic landmarks - sheer glaciers and rugged mountain peaks, some as high as 14,000 feet - are equally compelling.

Home to just 80,000 people scattered among isolated villages and small cities, this Last Frontier island group remains pristine. A moderate marine climate and abundant rainfall create a rainforest ecosystem lush with Sitka spruce forests, blankets of muskeg, and seasonal wildflowers.

Southeast Alaska offers the world's most fascinating and intricate cruising grounds. A small ship is the ultimate adventure vessel, large enough for comfortable travel between choice wilderness destinations, yet nimble enough for maneuvering by a knowing captain through the most labyrinthine passages.

Sitka, Home Shore's base, is a jewel nestled in a mountainous seaside setting that is surrounded by intriguing waters for exploration. With intimate local knowledge of these waters, the Home Shore crew will introduce you to the secret byways of its home country.

A mix of ocean and island environments, Southeast nurtures an extravagant array of wildlife. Whales, orca, and grizzlies top the food chain followed by an abundance of sea otters, sea lions, puffins, and eagles. Enriched by ever-replenishing stocks of salmon and herring, this diverse ecosystem is exceptionally healthy.

A part of the world-famous Inside Passage, most of Southeast falls within Tongass National Forest, with wilderness designation protecting its most precious parts.

Other gems of the region have park status, including Glacier Bay National Park in the north.
